Parking charges are increasing in Glasgow from Monday April 1.

This is what will and won't change from Monday April 1

In the council budget in February on-street parking charges were agreed to be increased to raise £2.5million in 2024/25.

It sees changes to prices in the city centre zones and the outer zones and to car parks.

What is changing?

In the city centre zones, parking charges will increase from £1.40 for 15 minutes to £1.60 for 15 minutes, a rise of 14%.

For the zones outside the city centre, charges will go up from 80p for 15 minutes to £1 for 15 minutes, a 25% rise.

What is not changing?

It was also agreed that there would be a standardisation of hours across all parking zones in the city.

These changes, which will see parking charges applied from 8am to 10pm seven days a week, require  Traffic Regulation Orders and consultation with residents, businesses and faith groups in the areas affected.

The change in hours will not take place until at least April 2025 and possibly even later.

The plan to extend the hours in the city centre zones have been put on hold to allow further discussion with businesses, many of which have publicly spoken out against the proposal.

There will be no change in the hours where charges apply in any of the zones from Monday, April 1.
