STAFF at Johnstone train station will walk a total distance of 226 miles during the month of May to raise money for a cause close to their heart.

Janice Povah and Susan Temple will walk around five miles a day each in memory of Janice’s niece Heather who passed away from cancer in Leeds last year at the age of 27.

Heather was able to marry her partner just three hours before she sadly passed away, leaving behind two daughters.

Glasgow Times: The money raised by the station will go towards the oncology ward at a hospital in Leeds that was able to arrange her wedding.

Along with walking, the station will be hosting raffles including train tickets for various destinations, tours of Glasgow Central station and other prizes.

Glasgow Times: The station will also be supporting a local charitable organisation called Wedding Wish Makers.

The Paisley-based organisation arranges weddings for terminally ill patients who otherwise wouldn’t have the opportunity to tie the knot.

Suzanne Stevenson is the founder of what is believed to be the only wedding wish maker in Scotland and works full time as a wedding coordinator whilst working in her spare time for the charity.

Susan said: “We want to help Suzanne make someone else’s dreams come true.

"She does something different, she gives them a distraction from something not nice. Not a lot of people can do that.”
