A BLAZE at a four-storey terraced building on a busy street in Paisley sparked an emergency response.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) said it was called to the incident on Gilmour Street in the town shortly after 5.30am on Monday, April 15.

After receiving the call, the service sent four fire trucks and a high-reach appliance to the fire which was affecting the top floor of the building.

Crews then battled the blaze and have remained in the area to check for any hotspots.

Luckily, no injuries have been reported following the incident.

Pictures from the scene showed several 999 crews - including police and fire - in attendance.

The images also show the area had been taped off while fire teams dealt with the blaze.

During the incident, police said Gilmour Street was closed between County Square and High Street.

A spokesperson for the SFRS said: “We were alerted at 5.42am on April 15, to reports of a building fire on Gilmour Street in Paisley, Glasgow.

“Operations control initially mobilised four appliances including a high reach to the scene where a fire was affecting within the top floor of a four-storey terraced building.

“Crews have now extinguished the fire and our attendance has reduced to two appliances plus a high reach.

“No casualties have been reported and crews remain on scene checking for hotspots.”
