A LARGE emergency response was spotted at the River Leven in Dumbarton on Wednesday.
Police, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, the Scottish Ambulance Service, and the Coastguard responded to the water near Glasgow Road at around 6.20pm.
Officers said they were called to a report of a man in the water.
It is understood that searches are due to resume today and police will remain in the area.
Enquiries are ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Police were called to a report of a man in the water in the River Leven near Glasgow Road in Dumbarton around 6.20pm on Wednesday, April 17, 2024.
“Emergency services attended and enquiries are ongoing.”
