You might have seen Baby Reindeer taking the world by storm over the last week or so, as viewers have been given a glimpse into Richard Gadd’s stalking ordeal in 2016/17.
The series, based on Richard’s traumatic real-life event, sees Donny Dunn (played by Richard as a fictionalised version of himself) at the centre of a “strange and layered” relationship with a woman named Martha Scott (Jessica Gunning).
But the popularity of the show has led to some fans trying to suss out who the characters of “Martha” and “Darrien” are in real life.
However, Richard has taken to social media to ask people not to speculate.
Posting on his Instagram stories on Monday (April 22) to his 113k followers, he said: “Hi everyone,
“People I love, have worked with, and admire (including Sean Foley) are unfairly getting caught up in speculation. Please don’t speculate on who any of the real-life people could be. That’s not the point of our show.”
Aside from this, many may be wondering why Martha calls Donny “Baby Reindeer” in the Netflix series.
If you’re too impatient to wait until you find out in the show (hint, it’s at the end), this is why.
Note: spoilers are ahead.
I’m emotionally drained but it is one of the easiest 10/10. Deserves a standing ovation tbh 👏🏽. Rare gem. Very brave #BabyReindeer pic.twitter.com/jUzyOtDKi9

Why does Martha call Donny 'Baby Reindeer'?
Towards the end of the last episode, Donny is seen entering a pub, where he takes a seat at the bar and orders a drink as he continues to listen to hundreds of Martha’s voicemails through his headphones.
We then hear Martha recalling her childhood and her "baby reindeer" toy as she discusses its resemblance to Donny.
She explained in the message: “I had this wee cuddly toy when I was young. Went with me everywhere.
“Earliest memory I have, I think, was Christmastime. This old photo of me, sitting with this paper hat on my head and this baby reindeer beside me.

“Anyway, this reindeer was this cuddly, fluffy thing. It had big lips, huge eyes, and the cutest wee bum. I still have it to this day. It was the only good thing about my childhood. I’d hug it when they fought. And they fought a lot, you know?
“Well, you are the spit of that reindeer. The same nose. Same eyes. Same cute wee bum. It means so much to me. You… You mean so much to me.”
As Donny listens closely, he begins to break down in tears.
Baby Reindeer is available to watch on Netflix now.
