A thug attacked a man and demanded money from him in broad daylight.
The incident took place near the underpass on Burnhill Street in Rutherglen at around 3.50pm on Monday, April 29.
Officers said a 30-year-old was approached by another man and assaulted.
The thug demanded money and then took off empty-handed.
It is understood that the victim did not require medical treatment.
Police are now probing the attack and attempted robbery.
Detective Constable Stuart Adams of CID said: “We are keen to trace a man described as 20 to 30 years of age, wearing a dark hooded jacket and white trainers.
"His face was covered by a snood and he was carrying a backpack. We are keen to hear from anyone in the area at the time.
"I would appeal to motorists who have dash-cam footage, you may have captured something that could assist our investigations.
“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident 2393 of April 29, or alternatively Crimestoppers can be contacted on 0800 555 111, where anonymity can be maintained.”
