SINGER Tom Walker told fans that his second album is the ‘best thing he’s ever done’ as he took to the stage in Glasgow.

The Kilsyth-born musician kicked off the first of two shows in the city on his ‘I Am’ tour at the O2 Academy on Tuesday.

There was an excited roar from the crowd as he opened with Holy Ghost showcasing his impressive vocals.

This was my first time seeing Tom live and I was not disappointed. The 32-year-old captivated fans with a nice mix of new and older tracks.

Pausing to soak in the atmosphere he laughed in awe as he addressed the packed venue.

Glasgow Times: Tom said: “Glasgow how we feeling? It’s f*****g amazing to be back thank you so much for having us.

“This is absolutely grand I can’t believe we’re doing two nights in this ginormous venue. This is going to be a good night.”

The singer went on to play a variety of his latest songs including Head Under Water and the title track of his unreleased second album I Am.

Reflecting on the writing process Tom made a promise to fans which was met with enthusiastic cheers.

He said: “I really appreciate everybody who has been waiting [on the release of the second album]. I wanted to make sure I was taking my time as you don’t get any second chances.

“I promise you, it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.”

Judging by the crowd’s reaction, with most hanging on his every word, I’d say they agreed with this statement.

Delving back into his first album, which was released in 2019, Tom set a little challenge.

He said: “In every city, I’ve been having a competition. I want to see the whole room bouncing and every one of you singing this next song.”

Glasgow crowds are unmatched in their energy and passion for live music.

This was evident as the first couple of notes of one his most popular tracks, You and I played.

Tom beamed as fans clearly sang every word back at an incredible volume.

As the gig started to near its end tracks including Lifeline, his latest single, and Not Giving In kept the energetic crowd going.

Rounding off a fantastic evening on a high note Tom performed his smash hit Leave a Light On.
