A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued for Glasgow today.

The Met Office has implemented the warning for the Glasgow and wider Strathclyde area from 1pm until 9pm on Monday, May 6.

Due to the weather, spray and sudden flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions, road closures, transport delays, and a slight chance of power cuts.

The Met Office states: "Cloud and outbreaks of rain in the morning, mainly in the east.

"Bright spells and scattered heavy showers in the afternoon, mainly across southern Argyll, Glasgow and Lanarkshire. Cloudy morning over the Isles but then becoming dry and bright."

Following the weather warning, ScotRail has urged travellers to plan ahead.

The rail firm said: "If you're travelling today, please be aware that the Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for thunderstorms and heavy downpours for parts of Scotland.

"We're operating our full timetable but check your journey on our app/website before heading out as delays are possible."
