A BANNED driver provided a fake name to cops who knew of him after being caught behind the wheel.
Mohamed Fezoui told officers his name was Sherif Mezhood after being stopped in Glasgow’s Southside.
When the cops, who had prior knowledge of him, told him they knew his name wasn’t Sherif, he replied: “I remember you.”
The officers had been on patrol on Castlemilk Drive when they became aware of a Vauxhall Astra at 5.45pm on April 4 this year.
The driver, from Castlemilk, was stopped for a routine document check.
Fezoui confirmed he was the car’s owner before giving the false name as well as a false date of birth.

He was placed under arrest after a check revealed he was disqualified.
Fezoui, 48, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after being charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice, driving whilst disqualified and without insurance.
His lawyer said: “He accepts that he should not have been driving. He took a chance in circumstances where he now understands he can’t.
“Further conduct is likely to end up with a sentence of imprisonment. I would ask you to step back from custody as there are a number of other options.
“He is already paying a fine but could pay another fine. There is no real focus for supervision. But he will happily accept any options.”
Sheriff Simone Sweeney disqualified him from driving for 16 months.
He was also ordered to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work.
