AN arrest has been made following a "disturbance" in Paisley.
A collision took place between a car and a parked police vehicle on Glasgow Road at around 1pm, before an officer was allegedly chased with a chainsaw.
A 30-year-old man has been arrested.
Police Scotland has revealed that two officers were injured and were treated by paramedics.
Residents have been reassured there is no wider risk to the public.
Officers remain at the scene while enquiries are ongoing.
The road is closed between Buchlyvie Road and Allanton Avenue and drivers are being asked to avoid the area.
A Police Scotland statement read: "Around 1pm on Monday, May 6, 2024, a disturbance involving a weapon occurred following a collision involving a car and a stationary police vehicle on Glasgow Road in Paisley.
"Two officers were injured and were treated by paramedics.
"A 30-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.
"There is no wider risk to the public and officers remain at the scene while enquiries are ongoing.
"Glasgow Road is closed between Buchlyvie Road and Allanton Avenue. Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use an alternative route."
