A DAD was caught walking an East End street with a machete.
Dimitri Hendry, 20, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court for sentencing after previously pleading guilty to having the offensive weapon in a public place.
The Crown accepted a not-guilty plea to pursuing a man whilst brandishing the weapon.
The court heard that on September 24, 2023, two members of the public called police at 5pm after seeing a man walking on Wellshot Road with a machete.
They provided a description of him.

Officers travelling nearby then observed a man matching this description.
Hendry was arrested and taken to Cathcart police office. He made no reply when cautioned and charged.
Hendry committed the offence whilst on bail.
At the hearing, his lawyer said: “The position is set out in the social work report. It’s serious and I explained to him this morning that if you’re persuaded not to impose a custodial sentence it would be a direct alternative to custody.”
Sheriff Mary Shields said the incident was worrying.
His lawyer added: “He has got a young child. There is a community payback order (CPO) already in place and it was imposed last month. It’s not had a chance to get off the ground.
“He has a pro-social background.”

Sheriff Shields told Hendry: “I have been persuaded that I shouldn’t impose a custodial sentence. The charge is serious.
“There was the potential for injury to others and indeed yourself. You have recently been made subject to a CPO including 18 months supervision.
“I don’t think it’s necessary to impose any further supervision. You are subject to hours of unpaid work and you’re going to secure paid employment in the summer.”
He was ordered to stay within his Toryglen home between 7pm-7am for six months.
The defence solicitor asked if this could be reviewed when he starts his job and the sheriff agreed.
