A NEW housing development featuring 46 homes in the centre of Govan is now complete.

Trust Housing Association's project on Langlands Road features energy-efficient and affordable flats, with the first tenants already moved into the homes.

The £9 million project was delivered in partnership with Glasgow City Council and CCG (Scotland) Ltd.

Sandra Docherty, a tenant, said her new home has been life-changing, adding: "I can’t believe I am now in my new flat, having moved in two weeks ago it really does feel like home now.

"I was delighted to receive my offer letter for Langlands, but even more so to have moved into my lovely new home.”

The centrally located flats, previously a car park next to Govan Cross Shopping Centre, are within sight of public transport links with Govan Subway Station and Govan Bus Terminal located 200 metres away.

Within walking distance to the Trust’s Glasgow office and retirement development on Elder Street and Garmouth Court in Govan, the new flats are also designed in compliance with "Housing for Various Needs", "Greener Standard", and "Secure by Design Gold Standard" specifications.

The advanced design facilities will offer residents heat retention, which will keep fuel bills under control and reduce carbon emissions.

Rhona McLeod, chief executive officer of the Trust Housing Association, said: “We are delighted to have worked with Glasgow City Council and CCG (Scotland) Ltd to deliver these new build homes in Glasgow, playing part in the regeneration of this community which is one of the many communities we currently serve throughout Scotland."

Susan Aitken, leader of Glasgow City Council, said: “The completion of these much-needed and high-quality new homes in Govan will not only to meet the demand for socially-rented housing in the area, but complements the other developments currently taking place there.

"These homes are extremely energy-efficient and will have significantly lower energy bills, have a great location be very close to shopping and great transport links, and the residents can look forward to even better links when the new Govan-Partick Bridge opens later this year.”

Calum Murray, director of CCG, said: "The positive impact that housing-led regeneration can have on our communities cannot be understated and there are few greater examples in the city of Glasgow than Govan."
