The 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings will be remembered at a special service in Glasgow Cathedral.
Jacqueline McLaren, Lord Provost, will host the event, paying tribute to all those who took part in the Normandy landings in 1944 that changed the course of the Second World War.
In her role as Lord Lieutenant, Ms McLaren, said: “We remember the incredible valour of those who shared our values - and paid the ultimate price to preserve our freedoms.
"Only last week, the city commemorated the 100th anniversary of the Cenotaph in George Square.”
She added: “The legacy of their bravery and heroism, are the way of life and freedoms we enjoy today.”
Reverend Mark Johnstone, Minister of Glasgow Cathedral, will lead the worship with Rev John Purves and Rev John Sturrock the Moderator of Glasgow Presbytery.
The service will be attended by Donald Cameron, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Scotland and Stewart Walker of the Royal British Legion (Scotland.
The public is invited to attend the service at 11am on Thursday June 6 at Glasgow Cathedral, Castle Street.
