A NSPCC-led project Together for Childhood has provided essentials for children in Govan.
The campaign titled Help Keep Wee Govanites Cosy has been distributing vouchers to families to help in buying school coats and shoes.
The campaign launched during Challenge Poverty Week two years ago and has since provided children with blankets, scarves, hats, and warm clothing.
The project team has collaborated with primary schools in Govan, delivering Emotional Resilience and Mindfulness sessions to help children understand their emotions and thoughts.
These sessions aim to build resilience skills in pupils, helping them handle challenging situations and improving their emotional development and wellbeing.
Together for Childhood team members used their knowledge of the area to investigate the links between poverty and inequality and conduct charitable activities.
As part of this drive, they spoke with GP surgeries, family support groups, schools, families, and community groups to identify the best way to spend a £2,000 donation from the Reo Stakis Fund.
Families that qualify for the scheme receive 'one4all' vouchers, which can be used at participating shops to buy school clothes.
These vouchers, combined with the remaining winter programme stock, are distributed to approximately 60 Govan families.
Asda vouchers, bought with the remaining Reo Stakis Fund budget, are also provided for the purchase of food and other essentials.
Caoimhe Walsh, development support officer at Together for Childhood Govan, said: "Through speaking to local partners and families in Govan, it became clear that support with school clothing would be of great benefit to the community.
"We have established close links within the Govan community, which gives us a unique opportunity to find out the best way to help children and families in the area.
"By distributing vouchers, we are giving families the choice to shop where best suits them.
"We are incredibly grateful to Reo Stakis for the donation that has made this possible."
Reo Stakis, arriving in the UK in 1928 as a penniless 14-year-old, built his fortune with an affordable café in Glasgow.
This venture expanded into a chain of restaurants, Scotland’s first casino, and hotels later sold to Hilton Hotels.
Andros Stakis, of the Reo Stakis Charitable Trust, said: "We are delighted to donate to Together for Childhood Govan and help them with their incredible work supporting the community.
"We’re sure these packs will be greatly appreciated by those who receive them.
"It’s been a pleasure to work with Together for Childhood Govan on this project.
"It’s great to know these packs will help children and families in Govan and we are proud to have played a part in offering support to them."
