A MAN was expected to appear in court accused of biting a police officer.
The 23-year-old was arrested and charged following an alleged incident on a canal path at Clyde Shopping Centre towards Kilbowie Road at around 5.05pm on Sunday.
The court appearance comes after police claim they were contacted about anti-social behaviour involving e-bikes in the area. Officers then saw two e-bikes being ridden on the canal path
Officers claim both bikes were being used at speed before they were stopped near to Kilbowie Road. It was there that police approached both riders who were unaware of their presence. Once officer took hold of a rider after the pair attempted to make off, it is alleged he became verbally abusive making threats to harm them.
It is also alleged that the man who made off began throwing rocks at the officers from a distance.
The man in police custody was reportedly struggling and resisting arrest at the time before managing to bite the forearm of one of the officers, leading to further police resources being actioned to attend.

A search of the man in custody resulted in the recovery of a lock-back knife, it is claimed.
It is also claimed once within Clydebank Police Office, the man was searched fully and a quantity of cannabis was recovered and a substantial amount of a white rock-like substance.
