A PERVERT caught chatting sexually to a girl he believed was 13 years old said he was in love with her.
Adam Smith, 55, was instead talking to an adult decoy from his home in Dennistoun on February 20, 2023.
The decoy named Carly Mae Murphy received a friend request on Facebook from Smith who then messaged her.
The decoy told Smith that she was 13 and the conversation continued on WhatsApp.
Prosecutor Lauren Donnelly told Glasgow Sheriff Court: "He repeatedly asked her to be his girlfriend.
"He requested pictures of her in her pyjamas, and complimented her looks while also stating he was in love with her."
The pair exchanged text, audio and video calls over the next six days.
The decoy did not show her appearance during the video calls.
Smith stated during the calls: "I'd like to cuddle and kiss you.
"Anything you want to know about kissing, ask me.
"I know you're still a virgin."
The decoy then contacted vigilante group Protecting Kids Scotland who then attended Smith's home.
He was shown a picture of his Facebook account and he confirmed his identity.
Smith said: "I have been talking to her but I never touched her."
Police attended and arrested Smith who told officers: "I was just messaging her, I didn't think I was doing anything wrong.
"I know I'm gonna be charged."
Smith pleaded guilty today to attempting to communicate indecently with a child.
Sentence was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Louise Arrol KC.
Smith, now of Glasgow city centre, was put on the sex offenders register and granted bail meantime.
