THE opening date has been revealed for Popeyes' new city centre restaurant.

The chain, known for its Louisiana fried chicken, will open at 11am on Friday, July 5 on Sauchiehall Street.

The Glasgow Times reported last week that signage had appeared on the eateries unit.

The store will be Popeyes' 50th opening in the UK and they've pulled out all the stops for the occasion.

The brand has teamed up with Glasgow’s customised trainer experts, Boxfresh, to create limited-edition pairs of kicks – branded in Popeyes’ iconic orange, teal, and white – which will be up for grabs to win on opening day.

One of Glasgow’s best-loved nail salons, Naf! is also joining the party, creating sets of custom artificial nails which fans in the queue will also be in with a chance of winning.

The first three customers on opening day will win free Chicken Sandwiches for a year, while the first 50 customers will receive one free Chicken Sandwich and also be in with a chance of winning exclusive money-can't-buy merch, including bucket hats and t-shirts.

Customers queued for more than 18 hours to get their hands on the famous Louisiana Chicken Sandwich at Popeyes’ first Scottish launch in Barrhead in September 2023 and they predict the launch of the Sauchiehall Street venue will be just as popular.

Popeyes will be located at 108-110 Sauchiehall Street and will be open until midnight each day.
