Renfrewshire residents say their blood is boiling after a huge pile of slabs was dumped at the side of the road.
The shocking case of fly-tipping occurred this week directly across from St Mary’s Primary School and Early Learning and Childcare Class on Maxwellton Road in Paisley.
Many of the slabs were strewn across the pavement, completely obstructing the way for passers by, with some also spilling out onto the road.
Ross Clark, who lives in the town and was left appalled by what he saw, shared an image of the scene on social media, prompting a flood of concern from other angry residents.
The dad said: “I couldn’t believe it. It shows a blatant disregard for public safety and the environment.
“I’m glad to see its got this attention though.
"Hopefully we can find out who did it and also show people the consequences of illegal waste disposal.
“I used to work in the civil engineering industry and we had to pay a lot for disposal of commercial waste like this.
“It's just people trying to avoid waste disposal costs/landfill tax.”
As we reported last week, fly tipping has been plaguing several streets of town – with culprits even dumping items in the middle of the road.
Tannahill Road, in the Ferguslie Park area, has been littered with everything from sofas and carpets to beds and three-piece suites.
Commenting on the Maxwellton Road incident another resident said: “This is disgusting. Especially when they have dumped near a School .
“Where are these people's brains?”
Another added: “Shocking. Dumping illegal waste anywhere spoils our town.
“Folk need to ensure they use registered businesses to dump rubbish.”
While a third said: "Makes my blood boil this. Someone must have had some major landscaping or slabs replaced recently using a local company.
"Folk need to ask where their waste goes when they book these cowboys and be safe in the knowledge it's dealt with properly."
