A childcare facility which announced its shock closure last month has been listed on Rightmove.
Happitots Nursery Thornliebank, which was operated by Thrive Childcare and Education, shut permanently on Friday, May 31 after giving parents less than two weeks’ notice about the decision.
Offers are now being invited by Christie & Co, a specialist advisor for buying and selling businesses, from those interested in taking over its lease.
According to the listing, the vacant children’s day nursery “could easily be re-established and rebranded as a children's nursery again, with a previous capacity for 103 children.”
Alternatively, Christie & Co say that subject to change of use, it would be ideal for “an alternative community-based facility such as a SEN School (Special Education Needs) or an activity centre.”
The current lease runs until April 2030, with the landlord said to be open to extending the lease beyond this date should the incoming tenant meet their required criteria.
Parents were informed about the sudden and impending closure of the nursery in a letter issued on May 20 which said that “along with many other day nurseries in Scotland, we have faced immense challenges in recruiting and retaining qualified staff."
The listing states that price is on application with the current rent set at £78,000 per year (this is inclusive of VAT).
There is also a service charge in the region of £11,000 per year (this is inclusive of VAT) which is payable monthly alongside the rent.
The property is being sold with vacant possession and no staffing team in place.
Access to the site is gained via a secure entrance vestibule leading through to a reception and waiting area.
Downstairs, there are several playrooms as well as an office space, staff room, laundry room, storage room and toilets, which include a separate shower room.
Upstairs, there are three playrooms, a large children's toilet room with napping space, changing space, a kitchen and an electric cupboard.
