West Dunbartonshire Council has hit out at vandals who deliberately set fire to a hut in a school playground.
Emergency crews were called to a blaze at Kilbowie Primary School in Clydebank on Friday evening (June 28).
Posting on Facebook, the council has released a photo of the large-scale damage which reveals the structure's roof caved in and the hut completely scorched.
The "disturbing" incident has destroyed the hut which served the primary school in their playground.
The council said: "It is extremely disappointing that mindless fire-raising over the weekend has destroyed a play hut at Kilbowie Primary School.
"We condemn all vandalism but this targeted attack on a well-loved children’s play area within a school is particularly disturbing.
"Assessment of the damage is underway and the matter has been reported to Police Scotland and we would urge anyone with information to contact them on 101."
The fire is being treated as wilful and enquiries are ongoing.
