A cocktail bar in the Southside of Glasgow is set to close its doors for the final time.

Bosses at Charlie Brown's, a hidden cocktail bar located at 441 Victoria Road in Govanhill, said they were "devastated" to announce the news.

The venue will welcome customers for the last time on Sunday, July 14.

It is noted that the closure is due to the bar and its Japanese-inspired sister restaurant Daku being redeveloped into "something else".

A statement posted to the venue's Instagram page reads: "Dear cocktail crushers, our compact cocktail bar on Victoria Road will close its doors for the final time on Sunday, July 14.

"Of course, we are all just devastated, but extremely keen to have lots of fun for the next two weeks and no doubt a super Sunday send-off.

"Our team of three bartenders were given the news, that along with what was once Daku next door, the space we take up as Charlie Brown's is going to be redeveloped into something else.

"We get it, it's okay. But we'll absolutely take all the hugs going. Listen there will definitely be more information on our happenings and appreciation posts to come.

"But for now what's important to us is to say a massive thank you to all who have ever had anything to do with Charlie Brown's.

"Regulars, brand representatives, one-off visitors, locals, suppliers, event organisers, old friends, new friends, and bar friends.

"You've all made Charlie Brown's a very special wee bar and we think you're pure class."

Customers shared their well wishes in the comments.

One person said: "You are the epitome of community, wherever you go next everyone will follow."

A second wrote: "This is sad to hear but I am truly excited for what is next for your team.

"Sending you big love."

A third commented: "Heartbreaking to read. But definitely bigger and brighter things ahead. Congratulations on all that you have achieved together and I am so looking forward to what you get up to next."

Charlie Brown's first opened in July 2023.

The name is a nod to Quentin Tarantino's iconic film Kill Bill with easter eggs hidden for fans within the cocktail menu and decor.
