Popeyes fans queued for 23 hours in Glasgow for a chicken sandwich.
Hungry customers lined up on Sauchiehall street for the grand opening of the New Orleans-inspired chicken restaurant.
The first three people in the queue won a prize of free Chicken Sandwiches for a year, while the first 50 customers chanced their luck to receive exclusive money-can’t-buy merch.

This included limited-edition pairs of shoes branded in Popeyes iconic orange, teal, and white, created by local artists at BoxFresh Glasgow – or sets of custom Popeyes press on nails from one of Glasgow’s best-loved nail salons, Naf!
The 23 hours queue smashed the previous Scottish record of more than 18 hours at Popeyes Barrhead in September last year.
Friends, Subhan and Zubair Mohammed were two of the first fans to arrive, queuing overnight to get their hands on the iconic Popeyes® Chicken Sandwich.
Zubair Mohammed said: “Subhan sent me the Instagram post with the details of the opening and we really wanted to be the first in the queue.
“We originally planned to come for 6am but saw how early people queued in Barrhead so decided to head down the day before and we’re so glad we did!
“The Sandwich was definitely worth the wait!”
As the first Popeyes in the UK to stay open until midnight every day from opening day, the full menu including the iconic Popeyes® Chicken Sandwich and original Southern biscuits and gravy will be available for those late-night cravings.
Popeyes is also serving up it's breakfast menu featuring British breakfast classics with a New Orleans twist until 11am each day – even including a Bacon Roll Meal for just £1.99, comprising a Bacon Roll, Hash Brown and a drink.
The new venue in the heart of the city marks the brand’s 17th opening this year, and the 50th opening since first landing in the UK in November 2021.
Popeyes® UK pulled out all the stops for the big 5-0, teaming up with Glasgow’s favourite brands to offer dedicated fans more rewards than ever before.
Tom Crowley, CEO at Popeyes UK, said: “Scottish chicken lovers have continued to show their support, and they certainly rose to the challenge to celebrate our 50th UK opening with incredible energy, queuing for an unbelievable 23 hours before we opened the doors.”
Popeyes also offers a 25% student discount via UNiDAYS.
Popeyes is situated at 108-110 Sauchiehall Street, Glasgow, and seats up to 80 people for dine-in, with takeaway also available.
