A new postbox is in place and ready to use at the Maidenhill development in Newton Mearns.
Last summer, Eastwood MSP Jackson Carlaw issued a residents survey to local homes at Maidenhill and in a number of the constituent responses, it was noted that a postbox had not been installed within the development.
The new postbox is located on Maidenhill Grove and a short distance ahead of the entrance to Staffin Way.
The Scottish Conservative politician said: “From visits to Maidenhill and reviewing the feedback of local residents to my survey, the absence of a postbox was clearly a matter of concern.
“Last July, I first made representation to Royal Mail to stress that a postbox had to be introduced in this part of Newton Mearns and so my constituents would be able to post mail within their local community.
“It was hugely welcome that the organisation agreed to make arrangements for the installation of a Maidenhill postbox.”
In April, Royal Mail provided an update to Mr Carlaw that the postbox had been put in place but it could not be used at this time because the collection plate was still to be fitted.
Towards the end of June, Royal Mail confirmed with Mr Carlaw that the postbox was now available for residents.
“I have remained in contact with Royal Mail over the previous year and to ensure that the plans would be followed through to a conclusion,” added Mr Carlaw.
“It’s fantastic to see that the postbox for Maidenhill has been installed on site and is now available for my constituents to use.”
Last collection times for the postbox are 9am from Monday to Friday and 7am on Saturdays.
Maidenhill is a growing residential development with plans for almost 850 homes in total.
A primary school and nursery building is positioned at the centre of the masterplan site.
