UPDATE: A body has been found and has been formally identified as Nico. 

THERE are concerns for the welfare of a man who has been reported missing from Airdrie. 

Nico McCann, 20, was last seen in Whiterigg Place at around 11.15pm on Friday, July 12. 

Police says it is "completely out of character" for Nico to go missing and they are asked for help from the public to trace him. 

It is believed he could have travelled to Glasgow, but is also known to frequent the Airdrie and Coatbridge areas.

Sergeant Chris Norton, from Airdrie Police Station, said: "It is completely out of character for Nico to go missing like this and we are all concerned for his welfare.

"He is known to frequent the Airdrie and Coatbridge areas, and may have also travelled into Glasgow, and we are asking members of the public to keep an eye out for him and report any potential sightings to us.

"We are also appealing to Nico directly to please get in touch with someone to confirm he is safe and well.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact us on 101, quoting incident number 4356 of Friday, July 12."

Nico is described as being 5ft 4in tall with a medium build, curly short dark hair and blue/ green eyes. 

It is not known what he is wearing.
