Verdict: Five stars.

Despite having a song called Up and Comer, Irish punk rockers Sprints are nothing of the sort.

From their opening tune, Adore Adore Adore, the Dublin group immediately brought electricity, confidence and just the right amount of chaos to the King Tut's stage on this warm Sunday afternoon.

Before launching into their tune Heavy, lead singer Karla Chubb asked the crowd: "You alright, Glasgow?"

And she couldn't help but poke a bit of fun before tonight's Euro final, which will see England and Spain go head-to-head for the trophy.

She said: "We're Sprints from Dublin and we're Spanish fans tonight."

Chubb later added: "England are going to lose the Euros and it's a great f***ing weekend to be Irish."

The group also used their afternoon slot to send love to Palestine and the queer community.

Chubb said: "We want to use our platform for good, to speak about Palestine right now and to stand with our trans brothers and sisters as well as the queer community. Because some people think the biggest problem in the world is who you kiss at night.

"So, do whatever the f*** you want, make some noise and have some fun. Let's f***ing go for it, Glasgow."

The band have just finished a run of shows across the UK with punk giants, IDLES - and after a set like that, it's no wonder they are running with the top dogs.

From start to finish, this largely hidden and criminally underrated band were incredibly tight.

With strong vocals and incredible sound, they made for an electrifying start the third and final day of TRNSMT 2024.

I think we may have just found our favourite new punk band.
