Verdict: Five stars.

Blossoms were the perfect addition to this year's TRNSMT festival.

The group, who hail from Stockport, played a killer setlist of the best and biggest hits from their four studio albums, as lead singer Tom Odgen fished out some fun and theatrics for every tune.

Freezing in position for a comically long time after singing the word 'stop' and bowing to the crowd after songs, the singer proved to be an incredible frontman and truly fun to watch.

After the first few tunes, Odgen went on to share the band's decade-long love affair with the city.

He said: "We've been coming to Glasgow for 10 years now and our first gig was at Nice 'N' Sleazy on Sauchiehall Street. There were about 10 of you there."

He then went on to explain that their newest single Gary, was actually written about the 8ft fibreglass gorilla of the same name, who was stolen last year from his home at Reynard Nursery in Carluke.

Well, that explains why there was a humungous gorilla on the stage then.

At one point, the full band sat around the fake chimp to sing their stripped-down number, My Favourite Room.

Following the acoustic moment, the band went on to play a few bars of Yes Sir, I Can Boogie, before launching into their energetic tune, There's A Reason Why (I Never Returned Your Call).

Finishing off their set with their big hit Charlemagne, Odgen commanded a mosh pit as he said: "You've been a wonderful audience TRNSMT, it's always a pleasure to play here."

As Blossoms waved the audience goodbye and said they would see us all again soon, we couldn't help but hope it was a promise.
