A MAN who was caught with a lockback knife in his car told police it was for taking the SIM card out of his phone.
Rajvinder Shaan had been driving a black Mercedes convertible in Glasgow’s Calton at around 12.30pm on March 22, 2023.
At this time plain clothed officers were on patrol in the area in an unmarked car.
Police watched Shaan’s vehicle turn right onto Green Street before coming to a stop.
Cops stopped the car to carry out checks.
On approaching the vehicle officers saw two men and noticed there was a smell of cannabis coming from inside.

Both men were detained, searched and cautioned.
A silver lockback knife was recovered from the driver’s door which Shaan took ownership of.
He told police: “I use it to take the SIM card out of my phone”.
Shaan, of Mansewood, appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court recently after pleading guilty to having an article which had a blade or was sharply pointed in a public place.
His lawyer told the court that a period of supervision would be beneficial.
Sheriff Simone Sweeney imposed a structured deferred sentence.
