A CHARITY run will return to Queen's Park this Autumn to raise money for The Moira Fund.

Moira's Run will take place on Sunday, October 27 to raise vital funds for the charity which was set up in memory of Moira Jones who was murdered in Queen's Park in May 2008.

Following her tragic death, her family, friends and colleagues decided to set up a fund in her memory that would help others who found themselves bereaved through violent death at the hand of another.

The Moira Fund makes grants to individuals referred through official organisations, the Police and Victim Support, and to those charities which care for families who have lost a loved one through murder or manslaughter.

The charity has now confirmed their annual 5K event will return this year.

Those taking part are also invited to "walk, skip, ski or samba" instead of running if they wish and they can virtually take part.

In a post shared on Facebook the charity said: "Help us celebrate Moira's life and raise funds to help others with this popular annual event.

"If running isn't your thing then walk, skip, ski or samba and you can take part wherever you live in the world.

"There are two options, enter to run/walk at Queens Park, Glasgow, or enter to complete the event virtually at a time and place of your own choice."

A wildflower garden has also been created in Queen's Park to honour the memory of Moira.

Our sister title The Herald reported in November last year that supporters had gained permission from the council to create Moira's Forget-Me-Not Memorial Project.

The garden was completed earlier this year.

Moira's Run will take place on Sunday, October 27 in Queen's Park.
