TENS of thousands of people enjoyed music art and dance at the Merchant City Festival over the weekend.

Organisers said 35,000 people of all ages experienced the entertainment across a number of venues from Friday to Sunday.

Over the three days, homegrown and international acts pleased the crowds.

Music from folk, roots and world performers delivered by Celtic Connections and interactive theatre including ‘Frame’ by a Catalan group Elector 28 together with giant puppets kept the children and adults enthralled.

Across the weekend, event sponsor, Merchant Square, staged free family days featuring ceilidhs, Be Bop Bairns discos, dancers, puppet shows and roaming characters like the Prom Pom Queen, co-commissioned with Scotland’s children’s theatre agency Imaginate.

Food and craft stalls were also available for people to buy local produce and goods.
