Visitors can now find new ways to explore Drumpellier Country Park thanks to a free mobile app.

The interactive Visit DCP app, developed by Brilliant Trails, maps out three different walking routes and uses GPS to provide users with information about wildlife and natural features.

The first route the Lochside Trail offers a one-mile walk around the loch taking roughly 30 minutes.

For those seeking a bit more of an adventure, the Woodland and Peatland Trail branches off the Lochside Trail and showcases a diverse range of habitats.

The Nature Trail includes the park's newest features including wildflower meadows, tree rubbing posts, solitary bee homes, and stone gabion hibernacula utilised by newts, frogs and invertebrates during the winter.

Councillor Helen Loughran, convener of the Environment and Climate Change Committee, said: “Drumpellier Country Park is a great place for days out with children or to walk and cycle, and our new Brilliant Trails app brings a new experience for visitors.

“It offers virtual guided tours around the park, pointing out the biodiversity, wildlife and features as you walk and allowing children to learn about the nature they can see around them.”

Visit DCP also comes with quizzes, puzzles, and even Augmented Reality wildlife masks.

The Visit DCP app can be downloaded via the App Store or Google Play Store.

The project is funded by the UK Government's UK Shared Prosperity Fund.
