Hampden Park in the Southside of Glasgow is Scotland's national stadium and plays host to a number of fixtures and concerts throughout the year.

However, for those less familiar with the area, getting to the venue can be tricky, especially if you're relying on public transport.

Whether you're travelling there to catch the footy or are going to see your favourite artist perform, here is everything you need to know about getting to Hampden.

How to get to Hampden Park for a match or concert

There are a number of ways to get to Hampden Park in Glasgow, according to the venue operators.

Rail

Hampden Park is just a five-minute walk from the Mount Florida and King Park train stations which run regular services to and from Glasgow Central.

Bus

Those opting to reach the stadium by bus can catch one of the regular bus services from the city centre. These include the 5, 6, 7, 7A, 34, 90 and 31.

Car

Hampden is also close to Junction 1A of the M74, making it easy to access for motorists. Drivers simply need to exit onto Polmadie Road/A728 and follow it as it merges onto Aikenhead Road. However, it should be noted that parking is restricted on event days.

Cycling or walking

The stadium is around a 45 minute walk from the town centre and has been dubbed "a great way to soak up the atmosphere on event days."

Those cycling to the venue can also make the most of the cycle racks situated under exit stairwells 36 and 44.

Is there any parking near Hampden?

Parking near the stadium can be rather tricky as only those with permits may park within the vicinity of the stadium during major event days.

Those requiring onsite accessible car parking should make any request well in advance as these spaces are subject to availability.
