Renfrewshire Council have told a company intending to install a new mast that they must apply for full planning permission.

Reading-based Cornerstone Telecommunications had notified the planning authority that it planned to install a 20-metre tower with six antennas in Paisley and two transmission dishes to replace an existing installation in the area.

Three equipment cabinets were also proposed for the site on a pavement off Fulbar Road, 30-metres south-east of Aldi.

The roads development department objected on the grounds that the equipment would narrow the footway to 1.4 metres in width, impeding pedestrians accessing the recently consented storage site to the west.

Roads Development also raised concerns that the equipment may conflict with the traffic signals found to the north of the application site.

The report of handling therefore stated that prior approval is required and should be refused to "allow the planning authority to assess the full impact the equipment would have to determine whether it can be sited in the proposed position."
