Works on railway routes in East Renfrewshire and Lanarkshire will begin this weekend.
There will be no train services through Neilston or Mossend on Sunday, August 4, with usual operations resuming on Monday.
Network Rail is urging passengers to plan ahead of the scheduled improvement works.
Passengers are encouraged to check their journeys at www.nationalrail.co.uk or with ScotRail.
Engineers will replace the rails and the sleepers which support and keep the rails the correct distance apart between Neilston and Cathcart.
Maintenance and upgrades of the overhead line equipment which powers electric freight and passenger trains will take place at Mossend in Lanarkshire.
Overgrown trees and vegetation removal from Mossend to Whifflet is also on the agenda.
Ross Moran, route director at Network Rail Scotland, said: "These works are being completed to keep the railway running safely and reliably for passengers and freight customers.
"We’re urging passengers to check their journey before travelling on Sunday and we thank them for their understanding during these works."
