A pizza shop has been forced to close after it was broken into over the weekend.

Bosses at Tony’s Pizzeria in Johnstone announced that the eatery will remain closed whilst ‘forensics’ probe the incident.

A statement posted to the shop’s Facebook page reads: “Unfortunately, last night our shop Tony’s Pizzeria Johnstone was broken into and everything we have was taken/damaged.

“We will remain shut while the police and forensics investigate this incident. We ask all our loyal customers to bear with us while we get our shop back up and running ASAP.

“Thanks.”

Police confirmed they had received reports of a housebreaking at a premises in the Quarry Street area of Johnstone at around 11.15am on Sunday, August 4.

Officers say the incident took place overnight.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 11.15am on Sunday, August 4, we received a report of a housebreaking at a premises in the Quarry Street area of Johnstone that happened overnight.

“Enquiries are ongoing.”
