Glasgow's newest hospital in the city centre will be opening its doors in September.

Elanic Hospital Glasgow is located on Bath Street at the site of the former Royal Bank of Scotland and has just had its scaffolding removed after nearly two years.

The building has not been commercially used since the bank's closure.

Built by Redpath Construction for Elanic Medical, a Scottish private healthcare business, the 15,000 sq ft purpose-built hospital harbours other design 'secrets' that have come to light.

One of these is two state-of-the-art, clean operating theatres in the former bank vault equipped with laminar flow technology.

A smaller operating theatre has been installed inside the previous bank's vault and will be used for procedures.

Patients requiring overnight stays can choose from five air-conditioned, ensuite bedrooms, including a specialist care dependency room.

The hospital facilities also include 12 recovery bays, consulting spaces, X-ray provision, and 24-hour medical cover.

Consultations can be booked at www.elanicmedical.co.uk.

Kristian Campbell, managing director of Elanic Medical, said: "The removal of the scaffolding at our new Glasgow hospital is a significant milestone as we reach the final stages of construction to restore a prime city centre asset into functional use.

“Our dedicated and distinguished team of healthcare professionals will provide personalised, patient focused care, maintaining human contact before and after admission as well as enhanced recovery to help people access high-quality healthcare when they need it.

“Waiting times for many elective procedures are too long for those who are in chronic pain or who need to get well sooner to be able to do their jobs.

“Being in the city centre, close to major rail and road links, and many of the city’s leading businesses will also make the hospital convenient for appointments.”

The team at Elanic Hospital Glasgow aims to treat up to 60 patients a week, with an additional 12 patients treated at the cosmetic surgery clinic on the ground floor.
