Set in 19th-century New York, The Buccaneers follows a group of 'fun-loving' Americans who make their way into London's prestigious and swanky society resulting in an Anglo-American culture clash between traditional and modern values.

Filming for the first season took place for 10 days in the city centre in July 2022, at which time it had been dubbed Debutante.

The series is based on Edith Wharton’s final and unfinished novel The Buccaneers.
