According to the Office for National Statistics, the average house price in Glasgow is around £176,000 as of 2024.
House prices were found to be slightly different for first-time buyers and mortgage buyers with those looking to purchase their first property paying around £158,000.
Mortgage buyers pay on average around £185,000, slightly more than other groups in the city.
However, the average house price in Glasgow was much lower than that recorded in the rest of Scotland.
The average house price in Scotland was found to be £191,000, around £15,000 more than in Glasgow.
What are the average prices for different properties in Glasgow?
The average prices paid for different property types differed greatly in the city with detached properties selling for around £446,000.
Semi-detached properties sold for around £253,000 while terraced homes as well as flats and maisonettes sold for £215,000 and £150,000 respectively.
What is the average monthly rent paid in Glasgow?
The average amount of rent paid in the city reached £1187 a month with this rising by 5.8% for private renters between 2023 and 2024.
This rise was higher than in the rest of Scotland where monthly rents rose by 2.5% in the same time period.
