Police have issued an update after a “death trap” was discovered in Glasgow’s Southside.

Detectives uncovered a cannabis farm in Grantley Gardens in Shawlands last night.

Now officers have been spotted still on the scene this morning carrying large Police Scotland bin bags from a property.

Residents told the Glasgow Times they feared the operation was a “real concern” because the electricity involved in maintaining it could be a fire risk.

One resident said: "It is a death trap and I'm glad it has been caught, we don't want it here on our street."

A second resident said: "It is really scary that was just next door to me, it is shameful. Places like that are a huge fire concern and all our homes and so close together. It is terrifying to think about."

A third resident said: "Police have been here since last night. A neighbour reported a cannabis farm and suddenly there were loads of police cars."

A fourth resident said: “This kind of thing is a real fire risk so a big concern for the building, especially since it is beside big rows of tenements.

“I am happy to see the police deal with this, it is worrying to think who was coming and going from the property.”
