A new permanent jewellery bar has opened in Clydebank following previous fame on American TV.

Basil & Dandelion, owned by sisters Erin Cassidy and Megan McNeil had its opening weekend last week after starting out as a small business on Etsy.

Located in Unit 20 of the Holistic Warehouse in the Clydebank Business Park, their new welding bar proved popular with locals as Erin says they were fully booked on their first day.

The sisters first started the store after both of them wanted somewhere to channel their creative side.

Starting on the website Etsy they made trinkets and handmade items based on recent trends and quirky sayings.

She said: "My sister and I are quite creative and wanted to do something together. So we started making personalised cards and things from clay.

"We started selling around September last year and then at Christmas, we got really popular. We're doing a lot of Christmas decorations. We had a Harry Styles Christmas bauble that just went crazy.

"We were just doing this from home, it was a hobby at first. Then we started looking into permanent jewellery.

"We're both from Clydebank and so we wanted to have something local because there was a gap, we want to bring something to the community here."

One of their most popular pieces ended up on the American talk show Jimmy Fallon last year.

Part of the craze around the 2023 film Saltburn includes a scene with actor Jacob Elordi taking a bath that went viral.

Following this, Megan and Erin decided to sell a candle with the label 'Jacob Elordi's bath water' which ended up being shown to the actor on the talk show.

She said ‘You're not going to believe this’

"At that point, we were just making candles. Within a month, we sold over 2000 of them, which is crazy.

"It takes a while on Etsy to get seen because if you've not got many sales, then you are lowered less on the search page.

"It was just a picture of the candle, but it made people search for it and then we were bestsellers. We are still selling them today."

She added: "It's nice because sisters, friends and family members all come in. They can have some nice stories as to why they are getting the jewellery.

"People have contacted me about having parties and weddings and even gifts. Hopefully, we can start doing events, drop-ins and collaborations.

"We are going along to the ladies' night which is organised by Old Kilpatrick Food Parcels which will be great."
