A Glasgow hospital is set to host a range of free activities to help people across the city manage their mental health.

Leverndale Hospital located in the city’s Southside will be running its annual Meander for Mental Health event on Saturday, September 14.

The event which is now in its fifth year is an award-winning initiative led by Leverndale’s physiotherapy team.

It promotes walking as a way of managing mental health, reducing the stigma of mental illness, and brings together the hospital and its local community.

Attendees will be able to take part in a variety of activities from 11am on the day including guided walks, dance, yoga, and Tai Chi.

Everyone who registers and completes a walk will receive a goodie bag.

Visitors will also be able to enjoy face painting, live music, stalls, and information stands.

Where and when will the events be held?

Meander for Mental Health: This event starts at 11am from the administration building (site entrance B) and finishes at 3pm. To register for free for this event visit HERE.

Led walks: These will begin at the administration building (site entrance B) at 11.30am and 1.30pm. A led easy run will start at 2pm.

Angela Watson, Physiotherapy Team Lead at Leverndale, said: “We’re really excited about this year’s event, and we’d like to invite everyone along to join in the fun, whether you live in the area or outside, are an in-patient of the hospital or a member of staff, visitor or carer.

“You can come along by yourself or bring your friends and family – there’s fun to be had for all ages and abilities.

“The event is free and there will be a host of activities, stalls and attractions, and our café will be open so you can enjoy a range of drinks and snacks throughout the day.”

There will be a chance for attendees to explore the hospital’s grounds and its range of adaptive bikes will be available for cyclists of all abilities to try out.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service will be on hand along with a fire engine as a special treat.
