An 'emergency' on a Glasgow Airport-bound flight sparked a huge 999 response.

Police say they were called to an incident involving an aircraft due to arrive at the city's airport on Friday, August 23.

The force was alerted to the situation shortly after 7pm.

On top of that, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service say they were also called to the emergency.

Four fire trucks were sent to the scene.

Luckily, cops revealed the plane managed to land safely and no one was injured during the incident.

In a clip posted on social media, emergency crews - including police and ambulance teams - could be seen arriving at the airport.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "Around 7.05pm on Friday, August 23, 2024, police received a report of an emergency on a flight due to land at Glasgow Airport.

"The plane landed safely and there were no reports of injuries.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were alerted at 7.09pm on Friday, August 23, to assist partners at Glasgow Airport, Paisley, Renfrewshire.

"Operations control mobilised three fire appliances and a high-reach appliance to the scene as a precaution.

"The plane landed safely and there were no casualties.

"Crews left after ensuring the area was made safe."

A spokesperson for the Scottish Ambulance Service added: “We received a call at 7.12pm on Friday, August 23, to attend an incident at Glasgow Airport.

"We dispatched one ambulance and two special response operations teams (SORT) to the scene.”
