A driver who pursued a car after it slowed down at a set of speed bumps has been banned from the roads.
Andrew Everett was sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court recently after pleading guilty to driving a car dangerously. The offence was committed whilst Everett was on bail.
The court heard that two men had been in a vehicle travelling on Gilbertfield Road in Cambuslang at around 6.25pm on May 20, 2024.
At this time their vehicle slowed down as it approached a set of speed bumps and as it did the vehicle behind it – which was being driven by Everett - began to sound its horn.
Everett’s vehicle then drove quickly to the back of their vehicle and swerved on both sides of the road.

Everett began pursuing the vehicle, overtaking it and erratically pulling in front of it before driving to the main street area.
He was lost from sight and the two men contacted police.
Everett was traced at his address on May 21 and told police “It was me”. He was cautioned and charged to which he made no reply.

His lawyer told the court: “He was remanded initially but is now at liberty. What is proving difficult for him is controlling a drug problem.
“A community payback order might be appropriate with some degree of assistance, possibly supervision and a punitive element.”
Sheriff Joana McDonald placed Everett on a community payback order with 18 months of social work supervision, 150 hours of unpaid work, and a requirement to engage with addiction services.
He was also disqualified from driving for two years.
