Renfrewshire Council has made a decision on plans to change a ground floor office into a small café/restaurant.

The proposals for the vacant premises at unit A, Neva Place, Main Street in Bridge of Weir have been approved subject to conditions.

The premises within the village centre used to be home to estate agents Allen & Harris.

The change will include minor alterations to the rear elevation of the building and internal alterations.

According to the plans, the café/restaurant will have a total floor area of 50m² of which 32m² will be dedicated to the public seating area.

The seating area will accommodate approximately 23 customers.

The rest of the space will be used for the kitchen, counter, storage and toilet facilities.

A restricted menu will be served, with some food being prepared off site.

In assessing the application, planners said the development would bring the unit back into use and “would protect the vitality of the village centre”.

Several conditions were attached to the approval including noise limits.

Another condition limits the premises to the following equipment – panini press, Merry Chef, Bora oven/microwave, soup kettle, toaster and coffee machine.

The premises will also be limited to the sale of the type of food detailed on the restricted menu within the approved planning design statement dated July 17.

The food detailed in this includes items such as soups, filled salad rolls, toasties, wraps, breakfasts, burgers, baked potatoes, salads, hot and cold drinks, and homemade cakes, pastries and traybakes.

The café/restaurant will only be allowed to open from 8am to 5pm, Monday to Sunday.
