A drunk football fan attacked a man on a bus after attending 'league celebrations'.
The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court recently after pleading guilty to four charges including acting in a threatening and abusive manner, assaulting a man, and damaging property.
The court heard that the man had been travelling on a bus in Glasgow with his sister and young son at around 8.45pm on May 27, 2023, after attending a football match and 'league celebrations' that day.
On May 27, 2023, Celtic Football Club celebrated a Trophy Day at Celtic Park.
As the bus got to Merrick Gardens in Ibrox the man approached another man, who had also been travelling on the bus, as he was singing non-offensive football songs at the rear of the vehicle.
The man shouted at him stating “I’m going to batter you” before punching him in the face multiple times.
The victim was then on the floor of the bus as the man continued to punch him, he suffered bruising and swelling.
The bus driver stopped the bus on Paisley Road West and contacted police. The man then left the bus with his sister and son.

Police attended and the bus driver pointed out the man to officers.
He was then traced and informed of the allegations to which he stated “Aye I did”.
He was cautioned and placed under arrest to which he replied “I did crack him”.
The man was taken to Helen Street police office and whilst being processed at the charge bar called a member of staff a “fat orange b*****d” before further stating “It’s not fun being a h*n”.
He continued to shout offensive remarks whilst in custody and before being released he ripped a mattress within his cell. The value of the mattress is not known.
The man was later released from custody and a report was sent to the Procurator Fiscal.
His lawyer told the court that her client had a “very limited recollection” of the events.

The defence solicitor said: “It was the first time that he had consumed alcohol in some time. He has a very limited recollection of the events.
“He had attended the football that day and league celebrations thereafter. He accepts full responsibility and is totally embarrassed.
“On viewing the CCTV he was completely taken aback by his conduct. This is out of character for him.
"He has been able to reflect on the impact this would have had on the victim. Due to his level of intoxication, he lacked consequential thinking.
"He is truly embarrassed and the language was nothing short of vile.”
Addressing the man, Sheriff Bernard Ablett said: “You have no one to blame but yourself. You subjected the man to an assault which caused him injury.
“You also used vile language and subjected police and staff to threats and abusive language whilst at the police office.
“Whilst you had the right to remain silent, you didn’t have the ability to do so.”
Sheriff Ablett tagged the man for 135 days keeping him indoors between 8.45pm and 6am.
The man was also ordered to pay £800 to the victim.
