A man who went into a Glasgow church and damaged property has been jailed.
Duncan Welsh, 39, of Sandyhills, was sentenced at Glasgow Sheriff Court recently after pleading guilty to two charges including damaging property and behaving in a threatening and abusive manner.
The court heard that Welsh had entered St Paul’s RC Church on Shettleston Road in the city’s East End just after 6pm on January 9, 2023.
He made his way to the main hall and knocked over a vase before ripping a curtain. The curtain was valued at £200.
Police were contacted due to Welsh’s behaviour.

Welsh was taken to a police cell van and conveyed to London Road police office.
Whilst there he shouted at officers stating “Scum bags, f*****g rats. I hope you die. Next time I see you I’m going to f*****g kill you”.
Welsh was later released on an undertaking to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court.
Welsh’s lawyer told the court that his client has since been fully committed in custody.
Sheriff Mark McGuire sentenced Welsh to 81 days in prison.
