An affordable housing project is set to bring new energy-efficient flats to Hamilton.

Procast Group is working on behalf of the West of Scotland Housing Association to deliver the 12 two-bedroom apartments in Alness Street.

The flats will feature solar panels and parking spaces with electric vehicle charging points.

A communal garden will also be incorporated to encourage community spirit.

The project is expected to be completed early in 2025.

Derek Innes, managing director for Procast Group, said: “The Alness Street project is directly adjacent to our offices so it’s a particularly special one for us to be able to bring forward for our clients - West of Scotland Housing Association.

“We are delivering 12 high-quality, energy-efficient homes fit for the future which we believe residents will truly love."

West of Scotland Housing Association, one of Scotland's largest social landlords, currently provides more than 170 affordable homes in Hamilton and more than 700 homes across South Lanarkshire.

The Alness Street site, to be named Mitchell Court, follows the completion of the redevelopment of the former St Andrews Church site in Hamilton in 2023.

Andrew Kubski, director of development and asset management at West of Scotland Housing Association, said: “The location of this site is perfect for the town centre amenities of Hamilton, close to our recent development on John Street and our existing stock on Low Waters Road.

"This development also helps consolidate our town centre community and provides broader choice for our tenants.

"Together we are focused on providing the best outcome for our tenants."
