UPDATE HERE

A Glasgow art gallery was closed after a person fell from a balcony inside it.

Emergency services were called to the Gallery of Modern Art (GoMA) in the city's Royal Exchange Square on Wednesday afternoon following the incident. 

Staff at the gallery have confirmed that they have closed for the day due to the person falling.

It will reopen as normal at 10am on Thursday, September 12.

A spokesperson said: "The Gallery of Modern Art has closed early today after a member of the public fell from a balcony. Emergency services are in attendance.

"The building will reopen as normal tomorrow, Thursday 12 September at 10am."

Police and ambulance vehicles were seen stationed outside the popular attraction and the force reassured the public that there was no wider threat to the public.

A spokesperson said: "We would like to reassure the public following a large emergency presence in Royal Exchange Square. This is related to a report a man has fallen within one of the buildings. There is no wider threat to the public."
