Councillor Casey provided the statistics which illustrate the scale of homelessness and the demand on council services.
He said there were 4674 households accommodated in B&B and hotels.
That included, he told a meeting of the full council in the City Chambers, 5442 adults and 2050 children.
There are currently more than 250 children living in hotels and B&Bs this week alone.
He said there were 1553 adults and 266 children in the hotels and B&Bs in the city on September 10.
The council uses are around 30 hotels in and around Glasgow to meet the demand for emergency accommodation at a cost on average of £82 per room per night.
Last year the hotel owners were paid £26,724,422, for the year 2023/24.

Casey was asked what the council was planning to do with cash being allocated by the Scottish Government for housing.
Greens councillor Anthony Carroll asked about £40 million newly announced by the Scottish Government for housing supply.
The Glasgow Times, together with Govan Law Centre, has been calling for standards in the hotels to be improved in the End the Homeless Hotel Shame campaign.

Casey said: “Obviously I welcome that additional funding. It’s been something we’ve been asking the Scottish Government for, for some time.
“Where we will be looking to put that additional capital that's coming in, will be acquisitions to try and get as many empty homes back into use as quickly as we possibly can.
“And also looking at whether or not we can retrofit other buildings into accommodation quickly.
“So we will be looking at all options to try and increase the supply of housing in Glasgow quickly.”
