A teen has been arrested after police uncovered a major cannabis operation.

Officers have seized cannabis worth nearly £700,000 in Ayrshire and Renfrew.

Detectives raided a property on Aranthrue Crescent in Renfrew at 10.35am on Wednesday.

More than 100 plants were removed, worth an estimated street value of £66,000.

An 18-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the seizure.

He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Friday, 13 September, 2024.

Around 1.45pm the same day, officers discovered a cannabis cultivation in King Street, Kilmarnock.

More than 500 plants, worth an estimated street value of £314,000 were seized. Enquiries remain ongoing.

Meanwhile in Muirkirk on Thursday at around 4pm officers discovered more than 300 cannabis plants in Muirkirk.

The plants have a potential street value of £219,000.

A 32-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with the incident.

He is due to appear at Ayr Sheriff Court today.

Detective Inspector Keith Runcie said: “We know drugs cause real harm in our communities and tackling them remains a high priority for us.

“We remain committed to protecting the public and targeting anyone involved in illegal activity which contributes negatively to the local communities we serve.”
