THREE young thugs who admitted a six-week crimewave face being locked up.

Declan Cassells, 18, and a 17-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl wreaked havoc across Glasgow city centre between March 15 and April 29, 2023.

Their spate of violence includes Cassells and the boy pouncing on Spanish tourist Pablo Garcia.

The pair struck Mr Garcia after he did not give them money and cigarettes.

Mr Garcia suffered a fractured hand and underwent surgery back home in Madrid.

There was a later vicious hammer attack by the two younger teens on Jack Evans and they made off with his headphones.

The trio pleaded guilty at Glasgow Sheriff Court to a total of 33 charges which included assault and robberies as well as attempted robberies.

The court heard that the earliest attack took place on March 15 in which a man was forced to hand over £5 to Cassells, of Cumbernauld, whose face was partially masked.

A number of other attacks took place before Cassells and the 17-year-old came across Mr Garcia.

The pair asked him for money and cigarettes which he did not have so he walked away.

However, he was pushed against a wall and the two teenagers became aggressive towards him.

Prosecutor Ryan Watson said: "They struck him with a stick to his right hand and he ran away.

"Mr Garcia attended hospital where he was found to have suffered a fracture to his right hand."

The fiscal depute reported that the victim received surgery to his hand when he returned to Madrid.

Amid further attacks, the younger thugs approached Mr Evans in Glasgow city centre.

The boy told his victim that he was going to "F*** you up" and took a hammer from his waistband.

He then removed Mr Evans' headphones before he struck him on the head and knees with the weapon.

Mr Evans ran away but was pursued then struck again with the hammer.

He was later taken to hospital for treatment having suffered a wound to his head and bruising to his knees.

Sheriff Louise Arrol KC stated to the court that the boy was "lucky that you are not in the High Court for this."

She added: "You are all young and I find it quite disturbing, this extremely serious behaviour before me.

"A bail order will be put in place with a curfew of 7pm and 7am and a city centre exclusion zone which if you breach will be taken most seriously.

"You engaged in a course of conduct with weapons terrifying people in Glasgow as well as a tourist."

The sheriff then told the girl: "I saw you smile when the incident regarding the hammer was read out.

"If you find that funny, you should have a think about that before this case calls again - it is not funny."

The case will recall next month.
